Coconut Oil is one of the healthiest and “holy grail” of all oils. Native tropical cultures that thrive on diets rich in coconut attribute their heart health, youthful skin, lustrous hair, dental health, strong immunity, and lean bodies to their beloved tropical trooper. Trader Joe’s happens to be my favorite brand to use! their coconut oil sell out like gold 🙂 Pure Coconut Oil makes a natural source of food and body medicine. It is a true gift from Mother Nature that offers great benefits, especially when taken daily.
1. COOKING Oil
Unlike other vegetables, seed and nut oils, including olive oil, coconut oil has a very high smoking point and will not turn rancid and oxidize when it is heated.
Coconut oil is ideal for dry rough skin. Its high content of Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFA’s) makes it easily absorbed by the skin. You can use it on your face and body as an alternative to a cream, and all you have to do it use it. It provides intense hydration for your skin and helps to decrease wrinkles and sun spots. It also minimizes scars, stretch marks, cellulite and uneven skin tone. I have been using coconut oil on my skin for 10years and swear by it. It gives me a natural even glow during winter and summer months.
I like to section my hair focusing on the roots and then bringing the oil down onto the ends. Wrap your hair in a towel or cling wrap and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Coconut oil helps to strengthen your hair and also gives you a soft, shiny finish once washed out. It has also been found to stimulate hair growth when massaged into the scalp.
4. LIP CONDITIONER
Put a little bit of the oil on your lips before bed. You’ll wake up with smooth, soft lips!
Mix together some coconut oil and baking soda. Brush your teeth with the mixture as you normally would, focusing on the areas that need some whitening (generally the front teeth). Once you have brushed for a few minutes, rinse your mouth and brush with normal toothpaste. Also great for mouth rinse!
Simply massage some coconut oil into your cuticles. This will help soften them and deter any further splitting.
7. BODY SCRUB
There are so many creative ways you can make a DIY body scrub with coconut oil. My two favorites are to mix in either raw sugar or coffee grinds. Both have great advantages and you’re getting a deep exfoliation in the process.
How have you been using coconut oil today?
