If you all have been following my blog for a while now, you know I talked about how I treated my acne. Acne can be a Debbie downer, but after trying different products and seeing various dermatologists. I have been able to get my acne under control. My last consultation with a dermatologist was with YODERM. I was able to see a dermatologist from the comfort and privacy of my own couch and home. How neat is that?! No more waiting to schedule an appointment with a dermatologist. The only way to try something is to give it a shot! Below is a review of how YODERM works.
YoDerm is a site where you have access to a real dermatologist for just $59. That alone is enough to try it out. Where else can you see a dermatologist for just $59? Have you ever been to a dermatologist’s office? If it’s anything like my experience, it takes forever to get an appointment. Instead with YoDerm, you answer a few questions about yourself, give whatever additional information about your skin that you want to the doctor and take pictures then the doctor takes a look at all the information and prescribes what you need to get your skin on track. It’s really convenient, especially when you just don’t have the time to visit a dermatologist in their office.
I took a total of 4 images of my bare naked face, uploaded them to my YoDerm profile then sent them off to the doctor. I used my Macbook’s Camcorder. Later that evening I received my report from Dr. Eugene Bain and a notification that my prescriptions were available for pickup at my local pharmacy. How easy was that?
I was prescribed Tretinoin which is a vitamin A derivative cream that helps with acne and to increase collagen production in the face. This is a very commonly prescribed product because of its anti-aging properties and Dr. Bain started me on a very low dose prescription so my face could adjust to the medicine easier. He explained that the regimen will take a few months to work. He also reminded me to use sunscreen daily. Each prescription also included a detailed instruction sheets for easy explanation of use. In 3 months, I will follow up and submit new photos of my skin and get more feedback on whether my treatment plan needs to be tweaked or if we should continue with the current skin care regimen.
My overall thoughts with YODERM is that I would highly recommend trying out the service if you need some help getting your skin under control. If you want to try it out, here is my referral link: YoDerm Referral link. You’ll get $10 off your first service.

Coconut Oil is one of the healthiest and “holy grail” of all oils. Native tropical cultures that thrive on diets rich in coconut attribute their heart health, youthful skin, lustrous hair, dental health, strong immunity, and lean bodies to their beloved tropical trooper. Trader Joe’s happens to be my favorite brand to use! their coconut oil sell out like gold 🙂 Pure Coconut Oil makes a natural source of food and body medicine. It is a true gift from Mother Nature that offers great benefits, especially when taken daily.
1. COOKING Oil
Unlike other vegetables, seed and nut oils, including olive oil, coconut oil has a very high smoking point and will not turn rancid and oxidize when it is heated.
Coconut oil is ideal for dry rough skin. Its high content of Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFA’s) makes it easily absorbed by the skin. You can use it on your face and body as an alternative to a cream, and all you have to do it use it. It provides intense hydration for your skin and helps to decrease wrinkles and sun spots. It also minimizes scars, stretch marks, cellulite and uneven skin tone. I have been using coconut oil on my skin for 10years and swear by it. It gives me a natural even glow during winter and summer months.
I like to section my hair focusing on the roots and then bringing the oil down onto the ends. Wrap your hair in a towel or cling wrap and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Coconut oil helps to strengthen your hair and also gives you a soft, shiny finish once washed out. It has also been found to stimulate hair growth when massaged into the scalp.
4. LIP CONDITIONER
Put a little bit of the oil on your lips before bed. You’ll wake up with smooth, soft lips!
Mix together some coconut oil and baking soda. Brush your teeth with the mixture as you normally would, focusing on the areas that need some whitening (generally the front teeth). Once you have brushed for a few minutes, rinse your mouth and brush with normal toothpaste. Also great for mouth rinse!
Simply massage some coconut oil into your cuticles. This will help soften them and deter any further splitting.
7. BODY SCRUB
There are so many creative ways you can make a DIY body scrub with coconut oil. My two favorites are to mix in either raw sugar or coffee grinds. Both have great advantages and you’re getting a deep exfoliation in the process.
How have you been using coconut oil today?

Here’s a little back story about my skin. When I was finishing up my final year of high school I had just broken with my ex, I was super stressed from school, the breakup, applying to college that my skin did a 90 degree on me and started breaking out. The pimples came out of nowhere because my skin never had a spec on it. Now my face had different planets on it. I got even more stressed from the breakouts that it grew into dark spots from me popping the pimples on my face. My parents took me to a dermatologist who prescribed some topical creams which caused my already dry skin to become drier. I never wore makeup so, I had to learn different ways to make my skin look even. Fast Forward to now After trying everything from creams, gel, pills name it. I finally heard about “Accutane” and spoke to my dermatologist about it. I used it for about 6months. It really helped my skin from breaking out with cystic acne and getting rid of dark spots. I still have hormonal breakouts from my period but not as bad as before.
So I will be the first one to admit that I don’t have perfect skin. Even though lately it feels pretty perfect compared to what it was. I’ve been on this journey for a few years trying to clear up persistent breakouts & I am not lying when I say that I have tried EVERYTHING. I mean everything. I am finally at a point in my journey where I have found a routine that finally works for me & has kept my skin super clear & healthy. I know that I can’t be the only one who has struggled with hormonal breakouts. Here are the products I use now for super dry, sensitive, hormonal and acne prone skin. I’m also currently on RETIN-A which is an exfoliant and the products below have helped with dryness and peeling.
1. CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleaner (for normal to oily skin) I use this every day, it cleanses, heals and hydrates my skin from dryness.
2. CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion SPF30 I recommend adding an SPF 15-30 into your skin care routine it helps with evening out skin while treating new spots.
3. Pure Vitamin E Oil I use this overnight on days when I take a break from applying my Retin-A. It keeps my skin soft and hydrated.
4. TeaTree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser I don’t use this everyday, just when I want a deep cleansing and want a tingling feeling from the tea tree. It also leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean!
These products have been the holy grail of products for me when it comes to dry skin! They are gentle and leave my skin feeling hydrated, fresh and healthy. What are some of your favorite products for dry sensitive skin?

I am one of those people that dislike changing things when I feel like it’s for me. So, when it comes to my makeup I stick to what works great.I love a good beat but never want my makeup to look like I’m trying to hard. I recently started using Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24HR Foundation and can I say it’s the holy grail of foundations! Especially being dark/brown skin girl. I find that Lancome Teint Idole is very light weight and last all day. It’s my favorite foundation right now! I even stopped using my Mac Studio Tech because of this foundation. I wear Makeup Forever Hydrating Primer for a smooth, you guessed it, hydrating base! before applying my foundation. It is one of the best primers I’ve come across so far. I got the primer in travel size which is less expensive!
I’m wearing LANCOME TEINT IDOLE 24HR FOUNDATION IN COLOR 540 SUEDE WARM
I like my overall makeup to look like I’m not wearing any foundation. I have been able to achieve that look with these babies :D. I love the Elf Mineral Infused mascara (It’s only $3 by the way) as my go to mascara! It lengthens my lashes and I get so many compliments on how long they are!
To finish my look I set my foundation with Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder, It is the next best thing compared to Ben Nye Banana Powder. I don’t get flashbacks or an ashy finish from Sacha Buttercup. I love the yellow tint for a warm finish. For Highlighting, I love Sleek’s Contour Palette on the far right.
These makeup favs are great for spring! Lightweight and fresh. I also love how small and compact the packaging of these makeup favorites.
What are some of your favorites foundations?
