“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” ~ Carl Gustav
Ever since I was a little kid, I used to think that in order to be liked and approved of by those around me, I had to behave, dress and live my life in a certain way. I had to be whatever the world wanted me to be.You see, when you spend most of your time trying to be whatever everyone wants you to be, wearing all kind of masks and costumes based on the role you are expected to be playing, you begin to lose yourself. I learnt this earlier on in my twenties after listening to what I thought the elders wanted me to be. There’s good advice and there are some advice that don’t make you feel like you living in your purpose. I stopped listening go all the noise and started doing things I enjoyed, reading books I enjoyed, hanging out with people that are positive and inspire me. You see, way too many people are living a life that is not theirs to live. They live according to what others think is best for them, they live their lives according to what their parents think it’s best for them, to what their friends, and their teachers, their government and the media thinks it’s best for them.
They ignore their inner voice, that inner calling. They are so busy with pleasing everybody, with living up to other people’s expectations, that they lose control over their lives. They forget what makes them happy, what they want, what they need and eventually, they forget about themselves. You have one life – this one right now – you must live it, own it, and especially don’t let other people’s opinions distract you from your path. You are right where you need to be, you don’t need to compete or have what everyone has, you will have that degree, you will get that car you want, meet that perfect guy for you, travel and eat at places that feel your soul. All these things will happen at the right time. Just continue to do the things that move you towards the life you dream off and shortly when you look back, you will laugh at yourself for stressing over things that are going to happen anyway. So Relax, be grateful and enjoy each season of your life.
Dare to give up living your life to other people’s expectations and start living it Your Way instead. God created us differently for a reason. Stop trying to keep up with the jones’ and come in tune with who you really are. You will be much more happier that way. 2017 is the year you embrace every aspect of yourself, love yourself, inspire yourself, take care of yourself and keep being the unique and wonderfully created human that you were created to be. You are Enough my love. By the way I’ve been loving denim, straw bags and one shoulder tops lately, click the links above for outfit details and let me know what you think in comments section below.
