Why I’m Not Making New Year Resolutions

Hey Loves! Can you believe 2017 is officially over! This year has been a trying year but all in all blogging has really been a great way to encourage and inspire both my readers and myself. I have been able to push myself out of my comfort zone, worked on campaigns that helped you get to know me better. I’m truly grateful for everyone of you. It’s officially winter and found my favorite fur coat from Forever 21. I got a lot of compliments been that it kept me warm and at 50% off we can’t go wrong with it. I know we’ve all been blasted with so many resolution posts, but that’s just not me. I’ve never been one to work that way. Being surrounded by the blogging world, I see all of these posts – some are really amazing and I salute everyone who sets their mind to their awesome goals! – but there is a point where it gets to be too much and starts to just be a “because she’s doing it” type approach instead of actually considering the “why.” Does that make sense? My tip to you when considering your goals or resolutions for the new year is to really think about “why” you are doing it and how you plan to achieve it. While I might not be making any “resolutions” I will certainly be setting more intentions on ways to improve my lifestyle in the new year,

Resolutions create pressure for me to be a certain way.  If I were, I would already be there. Living with pressure makes me more likely to engage in behaviors that will take me in the opposite direction of my resolution goals. I’m focusing on creating and enjoying life more in the year. What do you think about New Year’s Resolutions? Are you doing one this year? Let me know in the comments section below.

Cheers to Happy Healthy and Prosperous New Year

With Love Always,

  • Hi sweetie! Happy new year to you. I think resolutions are great but they’re not everything. They can be guidelines but one should not have to be confined by them or expected to fulfill each one as we’re only human and don’t have the grand picture of how life is about to unfold. It’s great to set intentions but don’t beat yourself up if some goals aren’t achieavable at the moment. 🙂 BTW, i love your lip color and hair style! 🙂 x

First that coat is adorable! Second, I don’t really plan on doing resolutions this year either. I always fail at keeping them but my main goal this year is to find a better job. I think that will help me and my family accomplish more in the new year then anything else will. Have a great new year!!!!

  • I’ve been doing intention setting for the last three years and been slowly building towards the type of person I want to be. I guess it’s simpler to resolutions but I’m happier having an idea of what I’d like to work towards than not! Honestly you just gotta do you when it comes to goal setting! Love love the pink fur!

Resolutions can be frustrating. We tend to set unrealistic goals, and, therefore we wind up not completing the resolution. That is a very nice coat! I bet it’s really warm!

My husband and I usually come up with silly resolutions, but we didn’t even think about it this year. I wish I had your coat right now, it’s freezing here!

  • That coat is so cute and I love the color. I remember when the coat I really want went on sale at 50% off. I was overcome with joy. Oh, and i’m right there with you in preferring intentions over resolutions.

  • I agree with you I don’t set resolutions either as ultimately they are a lot of pressure and can stress you out. I like the idea of taking the year as it comes and loved the pink coat too x

Less resolutions and more attainable goals, mostly having to do with my family and personal life. I love the FAUX coats as well! Definitely not real.

  • I really love that pink coat for one! I also don’t really do resolutions anymore. They put too much pressure on you and inevitably cause failure. I am working towards being healthier and more active this year though, but not as a resolution, but as a slow lifestyle change .

That coat is perfect for you! I don’t do resolutions either. I do set intentions and goals for the new year (and throughout the year), along with a word of the year. I don’t do the traditional resolutions. I did set them when I was younger and I think there was only one year that I followed through with my resolution and it was the year I told myself that I needed to try new things. I grew so much in that year!

That coat is amazing, I love the color and you can’t beat the Forever 21 prices!! As for the resolutions, I personally like “goals” better than “resolutions” — it feels better to work on a goal than be confined to doing one thing every day, like many resolutions are.

Love that coat. Also, I can agree to your thoughts on creating pressure. However, I do create financial goals to stay on track.

Resolutions are certainly not for everyone! I think a lot of people just say they are making resolutions, but never really have a plan. LOVE that pink fur coat!

  • Love the outfit shots! I agree that changing the way you think about goals is the way to make them happen. Don’t do something because you think you should, because then it won’t become a lasting habit.
