Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child together!
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the news on Monday, October 15th with a statement on their official Instagram account.
“We are very pleased to announce that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first child in the Spring of 2019,” the statement read.
The couple, who married in May 2018, are said to be “very excited” about the happy news.
The news comes shortly after the couple moved to Frogmore Cottage, their new home in Windsor, England. The pair have been actively involved in charity work and have made several appearances in public together, including a tour of Australia and New Zealand earlier this year.
The baby is set to be seventh in line to the throne, after Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George, Prince Louis, Prince Harry and the baby’s uncle, Prince Andrew.
The news has been welcomed by the British Royal Family, with the official account of the Royal Family tweeting: “The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted for the couple and were able to congratulate them on Friday at the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.”
Meghan is said to be in good health, and the couple are expected to announce the gender and name of their baby later in the year.
