R&B Star Luke James Comes Out as Gay
R&B star Luke James has recently come out as gay, making him one of the few Black male singers to publicly come out.
The singer-songwriter, who has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards, made the announcement via Twitter on April 9th. In the tweet, he wrote, “My truth is I’m gay. I hope the world can one day be more accepting and loving of all.”
James has been in the music industry for over a decade, releasing his debut album in 2013. He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Beyoncé, John Legend, and Chris Brown.
The news of James coming out as gay has been met with support from fellow artists, fans, and celebrities. Singer Mary J. Blige wrote, “Proud of you Luke!” while actress Tracee Ellis Ross wrote, “Sending you so much love, Luke.”
James has been open about his sexuality in the past, but this marks the first time he has publicly identified as gay. His coming out is a powerful moment for the LGBTQ+ community, and a sign of progress in the entertainment industry.
It is becoming increasingly more common for celebrities to come out as LGBTQ+, and James’ announcement serves as an important reminder that everyone should feel supported and accepted for who they are.
